Gaithersburg, MD: Today, on the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, the Sierra Club announced their public endorsement of Rob Wu’s campaign for Montgomery County Council. Upon hearing the news, Rob issued the following statement:

“Thank you to the Sierra Club for endorsing our campaign! Throughout my time in elected service on the Gaithersburg City Council, I have advocated for sound environmental-focused policies and practices. If elected to the County Council, I’ll continue to work with neighbors and members of associations like the Sierra Club to make Montgomery County a leader in green policies and environmental stewardship.”

The Sierra Club is a national community of volunteers, advocates, and grassroots activists who defend everyone’s right to a healthy world. They work to advance climate solutions and ensure everyone has access to clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment.

Rob Wu is devoted to a clean environment. He has a degree in Biology and Environmental Studies, and he is the Gaithersburg City Council liaison to the City’s Environmental Affairs Committee. On the Gaithersburg City Council, he has been a steward of the environment. He has advocated for policies to expand composting, increase the density of trees on city land, reduce unnecessary toxic pesticides, reduce vehicle carbon emissions by promoting bicycle and pedestrian friendly infrastructure, and adopt energy benchmark standards.
